Access Hub is not just a digital library, but a symbol of hope and the transformative power of education. It aims to bridge the digital gap and provide education access to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. The goal is to create a world where everyone has equal opportunities to learn and thrive.
EXECUTION
Recently, Access Hub Africa visited Enkusero Sampu Primary School in Kajiado county, Ewuaso zone, Kenya, to showcase their technology and demonstrate how it can transform the learning experience for pupils. The school is in a marginalised area without Internet connectivity; even GSM signals are not available in the locality.
A classroom environment was set up to demonstrate two modes of teaching and learning. First, a teacher led facilitation where the teacher displays high definition interactive learning modules to the learners using a smart projector that connects to the digital library wirelessly and has an inbuilt battery that lasts for over three hours unplugged to the Access Hub kit that has a huge solar power backup system that can run the whole system for over a week. Secondly, learners accessed the digital library on their own using sturdy 10 inch tablets.
Any device that has Wi-Fi capability and a web browser can access the digital library with hundreds of books, syllabus material, educational apps and more, all for free, including smartphones and laptops.
RESULTS
The teachers noted that the interactive learning tools and educational materials would help to enhance the quality of education by making teaching more effective and learning interesting for the learners.
The community members who attended the demonstration were impressed by the technology and expressed their appreciation for Access-hub Africa’s efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural areas.
The visit to Enkusero Primary School was a success, with Access-hub Africa showcasing how their technology can transform the learning experience for pupils in rural areas. Initiatives like this can help to ensure that pupils in rural areas have access to quality education and the skills they need to succeed in the digital age.
